The easiest way to drop photos from an iPhone to a computer is through Windows Explorer. How to do it - read below. Also 2 more ways will be affected: through importing and iCloud.
By the way, iTunes does not support importing images from an iPhone, but only vice versa.
Attention! All these methods apply only to the Windows operating system. If you have a Mac, then here you are.
Import photos using Windows
1 Connect the iPhone to the computer through the cord.
2 On the icon of our device, right-click on the “Import Images and Video”. If you do not have Windows 10, then this item may differ.
3 Next, just follow the instructions. All images will be located in “This computer> Images”.
Download photos from iCloud
To do this, the iPhone must already be synchronized. To configure synchronization - follow the steps.
1 Open the settings.
2 Go to your Apple account.
3 Next, “iCloud> Photo> iCloud Music Library“. Now you need to wait for the complete synchronization of images.
4 When everything is ready, open “This computer> iCloud Photos” in Windows. If the program has not yet been installed, then you can download it from the official website: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204283
5 Click on “Upload photos and videos.” After that, everything will be downloaded to your computer in the “Downloads” folder.
If you have any questions, then ask them in the comments.
Previously, I used only 1 way to transfer photos, and even for all the data through the cloud, in extreme cases I threw everything through the social network. I didn’t even suspect that data transfer could be done in another way (in articles 1 and 2). Now I will use it.
P.S While reading the article a couple of questions have ripened:
- Is it possible to import information if I forgot the password from the smartphone?
- Is it possible to transfer notes in this way?
Notes can be transferred via iCloud. The password from the smartphone is not needed.
Windows XP recognizes the device as a web-camera and, despite the fact that the device requests permission to access photos and videos, it does not display access to the information storage device in the My Computer tab. With Windows 10 it’s still more fun, it doesn’t display it at all.
There is no desire to tie access to photos via the Internet.
How to remove your photos from your device to your computer, without the use of "universal control"?
Device SE, iOs 11.4.
Look towards the drivers. For example, try connecting the iPhone in Win 10, then in the device manager remove “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver”. Then disconnect the phone, then reconnect. After that, Windows should start installing the driver.
I did not expect such a quick reaction, thank you for your vigilance!)
... but the question remains open, because, if not comprehensively, but I understand something about where to look for “opportunities”, let's call them that.
I’ve already tried all kinds of tricks without using third-party software tools on various OSs developed for PC, and I came to the conclusion that Apple Inc. purposefully becomes a FireWall, but not only at the hardware and software level, but rather, on the property ....
I transferred the photo in the first way, but did not copy it, but cut it out. The intersection is completed. As a result, the photos do not open on the computer. Writes the file is empty. And on the iPhone they are no longer there. How to restore them now?
Good evening! Help urgently needed! I can not upload all the photos from iPhon7. I tried everything: reboot, different cords, different computers ... For the first time I come across this: upload starts, after a couple of hundred photos everything stops and gives me a message that there is an error! If possible, does anyone know what to do. Thanks a lot in advance
For the sake of experiment, try temporarily disabling auto-lock. Settings - Screen and brightness - Auto lock - Never. Or just do not let the iPhone put out the screen while downloading photos.
The same problem, nothing helps. What to do?
I'm trying to throw a photo through the conductor, but it shows only a small part (from 920 it’s 69, then 70 with a small one). I already saved the photo to a separate folder on my phone - it still doesn’t show all the photos in any way to copy.
one more misfortune ... Some of the photos in the phone are stored as low-resolution images. If we look at the photo on the phone, it is loaded from the cloud, of course, if you have an Internet. In this case, methods 1 and 2 will not help, just downloading from the cloud in a third way.
Good evening, I press the button on the computer to upload the photo, a message appears that the first time the unloading of the library can take a long time, I click ok and nothing happens or photos are not selected, nothing is downloaded, even the download or preparation process does not go
Using Windows Explorer
You do not need to use iTunes to transfer photos from your iPhone to your computer - you can transfer them using the standard Windows Explorer.
- Step 1. Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
- Step 2. Unlock iPhone. A pop-up message will appear asking if this computer should be allowed access to your photos and videos. Click "Allow"so that your computer can see photos and videos from your iPhone.
- Step 3. Open Windows Explorer and go to your Apple iPhone. You will see a disk called Internal Storage. Double-click on this icon to open the phone’s internal storage.
- Then double-click the DCIM folder to view photos and videos on your phone (they can be located in different folders).
- Step 4. Select the necessary photos and copy from iPhone to computer, for example, to the desktop or to the folder you need.
Back up photos using iCloud
Each iPhone comes with 5 GB of free cloud storage on Apple's iCloud. This memory space can be used to back up settings such as phone settings, contacts, and of course photos and videos. If you installed the iCloud client on your computer, all the photos that are on your iPhone will be automatically downloaded to your computer.
- Step 1. Turn on iCloud on your iPhone by opening Settings and clicking iCloud. You will need to log in using your Apple ID and password (the same ID and password that you use to make purchases on the App Store).
- Step 2. Turn on sync photos in iCloud by selecting Settings> iCloud> Photos. If you want all your photos to be saved and synced with iCloud, turn on the iCloud photo library. There are several other options here that you can enable if you want:
- My photo stream Automatically uploads the last 1000 photos taken on your iPhone to iCloud,
- Upload Burst Photos uploads your “favorite” photos selected from burst mode,
- iCloud Photo Sharing Allows you to create albums for sharing with friends, family, and publicly on the Internet.
- Step 3. Download and install iCloud on your PC using this the link. Sign in to iCloud using the same Apple ID and password as your iPhone. If you prefer to simply access your photos from the Internet, you can go to iCloudto view your photos and other iCloud backups.
Back up photos using Dropbox, Google Drive, or another cloud service
ICloud is convenient, but you are not limited to this cloud service for storing information. Fortunately, other cloud storage services exist, such as Dropbox, OneDrive and Google drive, they all have an automatic backup of photos from your iPhone built into their iOS app.
Dropbox instructions
- Step 1. Download and install the Dropbox app for iOS.
- Step 2. Log in to your Dropbox account. If this is your first time signing up for the Dropbox app, you will have the option to enable photo upload on the next screen. Click this and let Dropbox access your photos.
If you have previously registered with the Dropbox app, open Settings> Camera Download. Turn on camera downloads and let Dropbox access your photos. Your photos will be uploaded to your Dropbox folder when your phone is connected via Wi-Fi (unless you turn it on Use Mobile Data, in which case your photos will be uploaded in real time).
Instructions for Google Drive:
- Step 1. Download and install the application Google Drive for iOS.
- Step 2. Sign in to Google Drive with your Google Account. If this is your first time entering the Google Drive app, you will have the option to enable backup of photos and videos on the next screen. Click Enable and select the size you want your photos and videos to be uploaded.
- High quality - the weight and image quality will decrease (slightly).
- Original quality - Photos will be uploaded in the original format.
Allow Google Drive to access your photos, and your photos will be automatically copied when connected to Wi-Fi.
If you’ve previously signed up for the Google Drive app, you can find your photo backup settings by selecting Settings> Photos and turning on the folder Google Photos.
Instructions for other cloud storage:
If the cloud storage service of your choice does not offer automatic backup of photos using your application, you can still back up your photos using IFTTT - Automation services that allows you to connect applications, web services and devices together.
- Step 1. Register for IFTTT.
- Step 2. On your iPhone, download the IFTTT application and log in to your account. Open the IFTTT app and click the icon that looks like a bowl in the upper right corner, and then click the icon "Settings" in the lower right corner. In the Settings menu, click "Channels"and then do a search "IOS Photos". Click icon iOS Photos and "Connect".
- Step 3. Open IFTTT on your computer. Click "Channels" and find the cloud storage service you want to use. Box, Evernote, Dropbox, Google Drive, Flickr, and Seagate Personal Cloud can be connected. Click the cloud storage service icon that you want to use to connect to your IFTTT.
- Step 4. Enter in the search bar "Photo backup". For example, if you want to create a task that will copy your photos from iOS to Box, search "IOS Photos Box". You will find many features created by other participants (you can also create your own task if you cannot find what you are looking for, but it is a bit more complicated). Click on the task you want to use and click Addto add it to your own. After you configure the variables used by the task (for example, the name of the folder in which your photos will be saved), your photos will be automatically uploaded to the cloud storage service.
Email photos
If you have only a few photos that you want to transfer to your computer, and you cannot find the USB cable, you can use the proven method of sending them to your own mail.
- Step 1. Open app "A photo" on your iPhone. In gallery mode, press "Choose" in the upper right corner. Click on the photos you want to transfer (you can only send five photos at a time by email) to select them, and then click the upload icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
- Step 2. Click icon "Post office"to open the application. In the application, enter your personal email address in the section "To" and click on the button "Send" in the upper right corner. You will need to confirm that you are sending a message without a subject, and you will also need to choose the size of the photos you want to send (small, medium, large or original sizes).
- Step 3. Open an email account on your computer, find the incoming email with attached photos and upload them to your computer.
